Ada and Zangemann

As a child, Zangemann dreamt of computers small enough that he could put them into any kind of toy or object. As an adult, he sells electric skateboards that make cool sounds, speakers that play music and ice-cream vending machines that make any kind of flavour. Ada lives with her mother near a junkyard, and since they don't have much money, Ada does not own any of Zangemann's cool toys. Instead she builds things with components found in the junkyard. One day, Zangemann is accidentally hit by a skateboarder and decides, since he controls all the devices he sold, to prevent the electric skateboards from working on the sidewalk. He also makes the speakers only play the music he likes when he is close to them, and decides what flavour will be served each day in his vending machines. In the meanwhile, Ada borrows from the library a book about software programming and learns to write software. She builds her own skateboard, that is not controlled by Zangemann, and shows her friends how to reprogram their skateboards and speakers to work wherever and whenever they decide. They also modify the ice-cream machines to produce any mix of any flavour and serve it in any shape people want. Angry, Zangemann then tells the president of the country to pass a law that forbids hacking his devices, and he is obeyed because all the government's computers use Zangemann's software. But the children start to protest the law in front of the Parliament, soon joined by the adults. They convince the president to repel the law and change it so that anyone is allowed to run any software, study it, modify it and share it. They also show the government how to write it's own software for its computers. Zangemann then isolates himself in his high castle while other people enjoy life.
