We have two kinds of printers at work: old HP LaserJets and newer Ricoh
multifunction photocopiers
connected to the same Windows-based print server (accepting the LPD
protocol).
While no particular option in /etc/printcap
is required to print with LPRng
on the HP printers, the bq_format=l
option is needed for printing to the
Ricoh ones. This tells Windows that the data must be printed as is, as
explained on the LPRng mailing
list. But why
does it work without this option on the HP printers then?

The story takes place on an alternative Earth in the mid-18th century. While
Mau is returning from the island where he performed alone his ritual to become
a man, a tsunami kills everyone on his own island, while crashing a ship on
the same island. The only survivor of the ship is a 13 years old girl, Daphne,
who was traveling to rejoin with her father, governor of some British colony.
Daphne invites Mau for a tea party in the wreckage of the ship, and eventually
become friends and learn each other's languages. Refugees from nearby islands
are coming in; Mau learns to be the chief of an island, while Daphne learns
the ways of the women in those parts. The voices of the ancestors speak into
the heads of the two children, the Grandfathers ordering Mau to restore the
altars of the gods which where washed into the sea, while the Grandmothers ask
Daphne to open the cave where the bodies of the island's greatest soldiers are
burried and free their souls (or something like that). In the cave, the
children discover that Mau's ancestors had a wide knowledge of science and
technology (they knew about Jupiter and Saturn's satellites and had probably
built a telescope) and the legends hint that they had travelled around the
world. People on the island live in the fear of the Raiders, cannibals who
worship the god of Death. When two mutineers of Daphne's ship, who were thrown
out on a small skiff, arrive, they manage to get rid of them and prepare for
the coming of the Raiders, who have joined forces with the chief of the
mutineers, former first mate Cox. When Cox finally arrives, the islanders
frighten the Raiders enough that they accept a duel between Mau and Cox, which
Cox looses. Some time later, Daphne's father finally finds his daughter, and
is soon joined by another ship, bringing him news that he has become king of
England, since an epidemic has killed all of the royal family and plenty of
potential heirs. Daphne convices her father not to consider the islanders as
savages and to acceed to their demand to become not a part of the Empire, but
of the Royal Society of Sciences. One year later, Daphne comes back to the
island to bring all the tools the islanders had asked in exchange for the
golden door of the Grandfather's cave (8 tons of gold). The world's best
scientists are also coming to study the cave and give the islanders lectures
about everything.

“If Maris Otter malt is the body of uour beer then hops are its spirit. Each
year we choose our hops not just by farm but by individual garden and time of
harvest. One older variety, Challenger, and one new, Boadicea, used as
unprocessed whole leaf hops.”
Just another ale. Contains malted barley.

Wikipedia
Arthur is 10 years old in 1960. He spends the summer with his grandmother, but
times are tough and she will have to sell the house in two days if a solution
isn't found. Arthur's grandfather has disappeared some time ago, but the boy
finds out that he's left to search for rubies he had received from the Bogo
Matassalai during his travels in Africa. The treasure is now hidden with
the Minimoys, a people of very small creatures who were neighbours to the
African tribe. Arthur discovers his grandfather's riddle leading him to
finding the portal leading to the Minimoy's kingdom, right in the house's
garden. After shrinking to the size of a Minimoy, he meets their king and the
princess, and helps them fight an attack of the Seides, a group of rebels lead
by the dreaded Maltazard. Along with the princess and her little brother,
Arthur travels to the Necropolis to stop Maltazard before he conqures the
Minimoy's territories. After some adventures, they are caught by Maltazard and
meet Arthur's grandfather in jail. Maltazard, who had decided to flood the
Minimoy's territory through the tunnel linking the two areas frees the
adventurers and let them run in front of the rushing water. Moreover, Arthur
notices that Maltazard's throne is made of the rubies. They manage to escape
in time to warn the Minimoys and close the gate at their end of the tunnel.
When Arthur and his grandfather come back to their world, they manage to find
the location of the rubies and save the house.

“Organically grown barley malt is difficult stuff to brew with. Unpredictable
at best. Organically grown hops are a different matter. Harvests are poor, the
hops often look terrible, but their brewing quality can be spectacular!
Perhaps it's like grapes and terroir – The plants that have the toughest time
produce the most flavour.”
Smells very nicely, but the tastes has something of a cold ashtray. Contains
malted barley.

Very interesting summary of current (1997) knowledge on food and cooking
sciences. One drawback is that all the recipies are given using exotic
volume units, and many use corn syrup, which is hard to find in Europe.

était tellement saoûl qu'il ne se souvient pas de ce qui lui est arrivé la

son atelier. Jérôme découvre alors dans la voiture une boucle d'oreille qui
indique que la propriétaire de la galerie où expose le sculpteur était la
